Glassell Park is smack dab between Glendale, Eagle Rock, Mount Washington, and Frogtown—one of the easiest Northeast LA (NELA) spots to zoom across town. With quick access to the 2, 134, and 5 freeways, it’s convenient yet still feels tucked away. In the past few years, the neighborhood has exploded with great restaurants, wine bars, and coffee spots. Part of Glassell Park falls in the Eagle Rock school district, giving residents access to Delevan Drive Elementary and Eagle Rock High School. The median home price is approximately $1,222,430
Here are some of my favorites:
Dunsmoor
The last time I was at Dunsmoor, I had the Low-Country Boil—gulf shrimp, smoked sausage, corn, and potatoes spread out over butcher paper like a party centerpiece. It was an A+. Housed in a nearly century-old Spanish Revival building, the restaurant has open communal tables, Southern comfort food, and a perfectly curated wine list (no cocktails needed). Don’t skip the sweet sour-milk cornbread, oysters, or ribeye.
The Wife & The Somm
I first discovered The Wife & The Somm through Instagram and instantly loved owners Chris and Christy (yes, really). Since opening in 2021, their wine bar and seasonal kitchen has become a neighborhood favorite. My first Lambrusco—served in a petite coupe—was here, paired with handmade pasta and charcuterie boards designed to complement their rotating wine list.
Little Ripper
A few weeks after buying my house in Glassell Park, Little Ripper opened—and voila, I had my dream walkable coffee shop. When I was pregnant with Levi, I ordered their lavender-almond latte (half-caff for baby-making purposes). The owner later sent pastries to the hospital when Levi was born—sweetest gesture ever. Now they’ve opened a wine bar next door, serving beautiful natural wines and light bites. Coffee by day, vino by night—perfection.
Bub & Grandma’s
I love meeting my husband here for lunch at the counter. He hates pretentious sandwiches, but Bub & Grandma’s won him over with their straightforward fare—especially the tuna sandwich (don’t ask for it toasted—they won’t). The bread is legendary: pick up a loaf, add Beurre de Baratte Doux butter and Maldon salt, and you’ve got magic. The cozy diner-style space with white booths and a wraparound bar seals the deal.
Glassell Park real estate blends hillside moderns, mid-century gems, and charming bungalows—all in a vibrant community with great food, walkable coffee, and small-town heart.

Originally hailing from the suburbs of Chicago, Joy fell in love with Los Angeles while vacationing here as a child. After 22 years of calling the Eastside her home, she has no plans to leave. She currently resides in Glassell Park with her husband Matt, their son Levi, and their 10 year old rescued pup, Cubby. When she’s not working with clients, you might find her exploring local boutiques, sampling the fare at one of the city’s newest restaurants with her girlfriends, or attending baby gymnastics classes with Levi.
